Uncommon Common Art highlights two of the biggest assets in Kings County…
…the stunning natural environment, and the abundance of creative people who live here.Installations by local artists can be found all over Kings County from June 15th-October 30th 2013, and Kentville is included in the tour. There are 14 installations total to check out, all marked on the map which can be found online or at select locations in Town including the Kentville VIC, TAN Coffee, Cafe Central, and RD Chisholm Ltd. The installations are unique and thought provoking and can be a real surprise to discover, especially for folks not necessarily looking for them.
The installation found in Kentville is located on Main Street in front of the Baptist Church. It is titled, “Veggies turning…turn to veggies”. The installation was created by Nistal Prem de Boer and Dick Groot, and is described in the map literature as, “an expression of the dynamic conversations that deal with the issues of healthy food. When the wind catches the mobile, it is a display of streaking colour, without wind the individual photographs can be seen clearly”.
The Uncommon Common Art project is coordinated by the The Uncommon Common Art Society, which is a newly formed not for profit corporation with a board of 5 members. You can learn more about the project and gain access to the online map by visiting the official website uncommoncommonart.com
