The Kentville Water Commission is looking for up to 40 Kentville residents with old plumbing systems to participate in a program to identify and minimize lead corrosion which may be occurring within their pipes. This program is part of an ongoing commitment to providing safe drinking water from ground to tap. Kentville drinking water does not contain lead and is tested quarterly to ensure corrosion is not occurring within town-owned pipes, however lead corrosion may still occur in older home plumbing systems with galvanized iron, copper, or brass service lines, pipes, and fittings. The program will require a lead sample to be taken at the tap once a week for up to six weeks beginning this summer. Residents are encouraged to apply to participate before July 18th, 2014. Chosen participants will be provided with their results.
If you are interested, please apply to Anna Haley by phone at 1-902-679-2553, or in person between 8:30 and 4:30 Monday-Friday at Kentville Town Hall.
