On September 15th, friends and family of the late Eric “Zeke” Brown gathered in Memorial Park for an intimate ceremony that remembered a great man and local baseball champion. A tree was planted at the West end of Memorial field to commemorate his life and work with minor baseball in Kentville.
Those in attendance spoke fondly as they remembered their friend and his contributions, including Councilor Bill Boyd saying “he brought with him a love of the game, and provided a shining example of what it means to be a volunteer. Much like the tree planted in his honour he was stoic, strong and solid and was deeply rooted into the fabric of our community.”
Brown was a great man, and is missed sorely by his friends and family but will forever be remembered in the Town of Kentville for his hard work and dedication to bringing the sport to life again. Eric will forever be a bridge to the past uniting the generations in our baseball community. We are proud to have known him, and our baseball community is stronger because of him.
