RE: Kentville 85th Apple Blossom Festival Events
KENTVILLE, NOVA SCOTIA –  The Town of Kentville wishes to provide the following update regarding the 85th Apple Blossom Festival and the location of this year’s Signature Festival events.

The Town of Kentville has received and observed an overwhelming amount of communication regarding the recent announcement by the Board of Directors of the Apple Blossom Festival (ABF) to relocate the Grand Street Parade to the Village of New Minas for the 2017 festival.

In response to the action by the Board, The Town has sent the Festival office a second letter today expressing the desire to meet with the Board immediately to discuss festival matters. The letter expresses the following points:
1. A desire to gain a better understanding about the decision to relocate the parade in 2017.
2. Concern for the certain negative economic impacts on the Kentville business environment and potentially the greater Annapolis Valley area.
3. Our confirmation to the ABF that The Town of Kentville is committed to supporting the Grand Street Parade in 2017 and beyond.
4. Request for confirmation that the Children’s Parade and K-Rock Birthday Bash & ABF Fireworks will remain in Kentville for 2017.

The letter further expresses that the Town wishes to continue its support of the ABF as it has for the last 85 years. “There is a turnkey parade-ready operation here at the Town positioned to support the 2017 Grand Street Parade and all other events previously hosted in Kentville. We have a long standing commitment to the ABF which we wish to continue fulfilling”, CAO Mark Phillips.
