Kentville has partnered with NS Health to collect and analyze data on housing needs. This project will collect and analyse data on the housing needs of citizens and enhance our understanding of the supports required to help people stay successfully housed in our community.
There are a certain number of surveys each municipality needs to have completed to have the data be statistically significant, so for the Town of Kentville the magic number is 363, let’s aim for a lot more and win that race!!
We hope that our efforts will
- Increase our knowledge of affordable and supportive housing needs and issues.
- Engage the community to better understand the local housing situation.
- Generate reports with current data on housing needs relevant to our communities that can be used for planning, service delivery, and funding proposals.
- Document housing needs of all our citizens including vulnerable populations (women leaving domestic violence, youth, seniors, LGBTQ, persons with disabilities, people experiencing homelessness).
This project is made possible by the collaborative efforts and strong partnerships across our region. Survey development, data collection, analysis and community engagement session are funded through the partnership contributions of participating town and municipal units, Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), Affordable Housing Association of NS (AHANS), and the NS Advisory Council for the Status of Women. In addition, towns/municipalities, community groups, not-for-profit organizations and partners will contribute in-kind towards achieving the goals of this project. As such, all towns and communities identified as geographic partnerships in our proposal will benefit from our efforts. Through our collaborative partnerships, all funding gaps have been filled ensuring a comprehensive needs assessment and data analysis across all 6 counties.
