Public Notice regarding Winter Parking and Obstruction during Snow Removal

Posted on November 14, 2017
Snow will shortly be on the way, and like every year the Town of Kentville is getting ready!  Residents are asked to get ready, too, by preparing their properties for the eventual need for snow removal teams to be out plowing and salting streets and roads in Kentville.

The Town of Kentville wishes to remind its residents that during the snow removal season, November 1st through March 31st, objects such as sports nets, green bins, garbage receptacles etc. must be stored outside of the road right of way at all times.  The road right of way width behind your side of the curb is generally 10 feet.  The overall road right of way width is 50 feet. This precaution is necessary to avoid damage to both personal property and the snow removal fleet vehicles of the Town of Kentville.  Any damage to fleet vehicles by objects left within the road right of way will be the responsibility of the property owner.  Although our operators will exercise caution as much as possible, the Town of Kentville will not be responsible for any damage to personal property left within the road right of way during snow removal operations.

We would also like to remind residents that it is not permitted under the Municipal Government Act (Section 318 Obstruction of Street) to deposit snow onto streets or roadways.  This includes sidewalks and the act of pushing snow across the street to the other side.  Penalties of no less than $250 may be applied.

The Town of Kentville apologizes for any inconvenience that this may cause, and would  like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and happy Winter Season!
