Kentville Moves – AT Plan seeks community input

Posted on December 18, 2018

KENTVILLE, NS – The Kentville Active Transportation Plan will provide an all-encompassing vision and strategy for the next 10 to 15 years, including suggested improvements to infrastructure, policy recommendations, and a strategy for increasing the number of active transportation users through engaging directly with citizens to encourage behaviour change.

Input from residents is essential to this project and there are multiple opportunities to share your thoughts on the future of Active Transportation in Kentville.

January 13th Downtown Walkabout

This walkabout will begin at the Calkin Building, introducing participants to the active transportation equipment the town has available and serving as a meeting spot with light refreshments. A walking tour of the downtown area will commence shortly, allowing us a chance to engage with community members about the potential opportunities for improved active transportation, as well as the barriers they face in their day-to-days.

January 16th Seniors Workshop: Kings Riverside Court (Bluenose Lounge)—10-11 am

A one-hour workshop with local seniors will allow us the opportunity to facilitate an activity and conversation about how we can improve their experience of their streetscape, either as a pedestrian, cyclist or otherwise.

January 16th Drop-In Session: Kentville Library Community Room—5-8 pm

This open house style event will invite the community to drop in anytime throughout these three hours. Participants can walk around various stations in order to learn about the project and provide their input on the trips they take, their physical barriers to active transportation and potential solutions. Interactive activities will help us to gather qualitative information, while serving as a conversation piece for participants.
