As Baseball season approaches, most NSSBL teams are starting to think about winter workout schedules and roster compilation, but the Kentville Senior Wildcats are focused on finding a Head Coach. Last season, after the early departure of Head Coach Chris Salsman who moved out of the area, the team was able to get by utilizing player coaches. The Team Executive met last week and has determined that without a dedicated head coach to lead the team this year, the upcoming season may not be feasible.
President Sandy VanBlarcom says the team has a great group of returning players committed to the upcoming season if a coach can also be secured. The Executive is issuing an urgent call for expressions of interest from anyone who may be able to step into the Head Coach role for 2019. “If we are unable to secure someone within the next couple of weeks, it is likely that Kentville will not have a team this year” says VanBlarcom.
The Kentville Wildcats team was formed in 1977. The executive committee is made up of local volunteers.
VanBlarcom says anyone interested in the Head Coach position should get in touch with the executive right away. “We really need to hear from someone by the 20th of February in order to have enough time to get things organized for the season” he says. The Executive can be reached via email at wildcatsSRbaseball@mail.com or by phone at 902-678-1233. The team also has aFacebook page that is monitored daily.
