November 19, 2017
Did you know that the United Nations has declared November 20th as Universal Children’s Day?
Established in 1954, this day is celebrated each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare.
To celebrate this event, Kentville’s Department of Parks and Recreation is launching a new initiative called “Kentville Plays!”, in response to article 31 that states that every child has the right to play. Play is not just about providing safe playgrounds for children. It is fundamentally about protecting their right to be free to explore and discover the physical and social world around them on their own terms, without formal structure.
So come and join us and learn more on Sunday, November 19th at the Kentville fire hall as we play together as families, as community, as people who value the health and well being of our children. Help us begin the quest of becoming Canada’s most playful community; one that takes play – and all of its benefits – very seriously.
