88th Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival Postponed until 2021

88TH Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival - POSTED APRIL 2 2020

The Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival has announced it will not go on in 2020 as planned, because of the impacts of COVID-19.

KENTVILLE, NOVA SCOTIA - Due to rising concerns around the potential spread of COVID-19 in our communities the Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival Board of Directors have decided that the 88th Festival will be postponed to 2021.

The Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival is one of the most recognized festivals in Nova Scotia and hosts events in many communities throughout the Annapolis Valley. Festival President Logan Morse says that uncertainty about what the situation will be in the coming months makes it impossible for the committee to move forward with planning for Spring, but that the festival will be back in 2021. “It is not feasible at this time to move ahead with planning for 2020, so pushing the 88th Festival to next year is really the best option” he said.

The Town of Kentville is host to some of the festival’s larger signature events including the Grand Street Parade, Children’s Parade and the Blossom Fireworks show.  CAO Kelly Rice says while this was a hard decision to come to, it was necessary. “We looked at every alternative but unfortunately because of the COVID-19 pandemic it was virtually impossible to find a way to move forward with the festival and protect our community at the same time” she said.

Vendors and other contractors that have been previously booked will be contacted by the Festival office over the coming weeks. Morse says some vendors and parade entrants have already paid fees for 2020, and those people will also be contacted directly by the office. “Patrons who have already paid for 2020 will be either refunded or credited for 2021. We will contact all in question to process them over the coming weeks”.

People who need to get in touch with festival organizers for business purposes should email i nfo@appleblossom.com or call the office at 902-678-8322.
