As we approach the weekend, October 7-8, rain and wind are again in the forecast due to a named system (Phillipe) heading up the coast. We anticipate heavy wind to be the main effect in our area, and some rain is also in the current forecast. You can follow the Kings REMO social media accounts or local weather outlets for updates about that system.
Some reminders about preparedness during storm season:
- The Town of Kentville is pays close attention to weather updates and reports, and stays in touch with REMO and other agency partners before during and after predicted intense weather events.
- Residents can prepare for heavy winds by eliminating or securing debris in their yards ahead of a serious weather event or a storm. Yard waste and other debris left out can be displaced, or become washed into culverts blocking storm water systems during periods of intense rainfall.
- Our local not for profit agencies work hard to help unhoused people find shelter during intense weather. People who are unhoused and need assistance finding shelter should call 211.
