Public Participation Meeting
Municipal Planning Strategy, Land Use Bylaw, and Subdivision Bylaw Amendments
A Public Participation Meeting will be held at the Kentville Recreation Centre, Lower Rec Unit, 348 Main Street, Kentville, Nova Scotia, at 5:00 PM on June 30, 2026, to provide an opportunity for the public to comment on or make suggestions to the proposed amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy, Land Use Bylaw, and Subdivision Bylaw. The meeting will include a short presentation by staff followed by an opportunity to ask questions and provide comments.
Planning Application: The Town is proposing amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy, Land Use Bylaw, and Subdivision By-law respecting street connectivity, access management, and subdivision design. The proposed amendments would retain existing standards for street length, cul-de-sac design, and the number of dwelling units served by limited-access streets while introducing greater flexibility where future street connections, phased development, topographic constraints, or existing street conditions warrant alternative approaches.
The intent of the amendments is to support safe and efficient access, improve long-term connectivity, facilitate orderly growth, and provide greater flexibility in subdivision design while maintaining public safety and servicing standards.
