The Kentville Board of Police Commission is seeking a new member from the community! This group is mandated by the Nova Scotia Police Act to help oversee the Kentville Police Service.
A new task team is being formed to participate in the town's energy planning project, and to create a framework for a permanent environment or sustainability committee! See below for details and apply today!
Some departments within the town are supported by a committee, a board, a commission, or an advisory group. The members of these groups are typically staff of the organization they serve, members of the Kentville Town Council, and sometimes, members of the public. Council and volunteer membership on committees, commissions, and boards is reviewed each year. If you’re interested in joining a committee and helping Kentville grow and thrive, contact the chair of the board or committee you are interested in! To learn more about these groups, please reach out to Jennifer West or one of the elected members who sits on the board or committee. All committees and commissions are listed here!
Not all committees have vacancies at this time. All applications will be kept on file for when a space becomes available for consideration. Applications are considered by each committee and are sent to Council as a recommendation. Council appoints citizen members to committees, board and commissions.
Most Kentville Committees are open to the public to attend. If you wish to attend in the audience of a meeting, please reach out to Jennifer West or reach out directly to the chair of the committee.
Environmental Planning Task Team:
Are you interested in the Environment? Sustainability? Do you know about environment-related projects happening in the town? Kentville has a number of exciting projects including working to become designated as a Bird Friendly Town, developing a community energy plan through the Net Zero Accelerator program, stormwater management workshops and events for residents, and much more! Moving these projects forward needs an engaged committee of citizens and elected officials. The Environment Planning Task Team is set up for one year, to (a) participate in the town's energy planning project as a focus group, and (b) build a framework for a permanent committee of council to work on issues of sustainability, environment or climate change. Are you interested in helping the town be more strategic and laser focused on these issues? Apply today! Fill out a Citizen Application Form and deliver it (in person or email) to Jennifer West, jwest@kentville.ca
