SNOWMAN Paint Night

Let’s get Christmas started early – why not? Paint along with artist Isobel Hamilton a winter scene with a cute snowman. Let's have some fun and let’s do it for a good cause. It supports the good work at the Kentville Lions Hall. No experience is necessary, and all equipment and supplies will be provided. I even give you a sketch to get you started! Take your masterpiece home at the end of the night. You’re welcome to make changes to the painting if you want – scarf colour, add a hat, whatever you like 🙂 Spaces are limited – events often sell out – so book early at valleyartworkshops.com - tickets are $40. Free coffee, tea and treats while the bar will be open for a glass of artistic inspiration. Contact isobel@isobelhamilton.com with questions.

Kentville residents elect six councillors and the mayor every four years during municipal elections. This team meets each month during the Council Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting with directors to understand town operations, and to receive recommendations from staff.  At the end of each month, council considers these and other recommendations and makes decisions in the best interest of the town. Both the CAC and council meetings are open to the public, either live at Town Hall or online using YouTube.  All council meetings and council meeting highlights are available on the town's YouTube channel.

Public Participation Meeting

Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw Amendment

A Public Participation Meeting will be held at the Kentville Town Hall, 354 Main Street, Kentville, Nova Scotia, at 4:30 PM on November 25th, 2025 to provide an opportunity for the public to comment on or make suggestions to the proposed amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw. The meeting will include a short presentation by staff followed by an opportunity to ask questions and provide comments.

Planning Application: The proposed amendments aim to clarify how supportive, transitional, and emergency housing—together referred to as Program-Based Housing—are defined and permitted within the Town’s planning framework. The proposal would establish clear definitions, allow such housing as-of-right in the Medium Density Residential (R3) Zone, and apply existing design and adjacency tools (Policies IM-7(c) and GD-30) to ensure compatibility with surrounding neighbourhoods.

These changes are intended to strengthen fairness, transparency, and consistency in how diverse housing forms are reviewed, while continuing to support the balance and vitality of Kentville’s downtown and residential areas. Members of the public are encouraged to attend, learn about the proposed framework, and share their feedback to help guide Council’s next steps.

Date/Time: November 25th, 2025 at 4:30 PM

Location: Kentville Town Hall, Council Chambers

For further information, copies of the proposed amendments, and questions about submitting comments please contact Darren Shupe, Director of Planning & Development at (902) 679-2529 or dshupe@kentville.ca
