fundraiser for kidney foundation

Come on out to the Kentville Autumn Market on October 19th at the Kentville Fire Hall from 10am - 3pm. There will be lots of talented vendors with a wonderful assortment of unique crafts and wares. A gift basket and 50/50 draw will be held in support of the Community Alternatives Living Society (CLAS). Tickets are $2 each, 3 for $5 or 10 for $10 (cash only). The gift basket will be made up of donations from all the amazing vendors. The draw will take place on the 19th at 2:30pm. We will have live entertainment by Maddy Ewing as well. Admission is free. Every Wednesday night at the Kentville Lions' Hall a gifted group of musicians and their supporters gather to play, sing and enjoy the music. Enjoy the comfort of the Hall where it is cool or warm, and dry when you need it to be. Clean washrooms available! No alcohol is permitted or served. Please bring a snack to share with everyone. A good time is had!

The advisory group for the Kentville Police Service, the Police Commission works to help strengthen and improve the Police Service. The commission meets 11 times per year to discuss emerging issues, equipment, and personnel. Members on this board include two members of Town Council, two members from the community, and a representative from the provincial Department of Justice.

TAKE NOTICE that Kentville Town Council will be holding a PUBLIC HEARING on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 4:30pm in Council Chambers of Town Hall, 354 Main Street, Kentville, NS. Council intends to consider at this meeting the following proposed amendments to the Land Use By-law (LUB) and Subdivision By-law (SB) to:

1. Establish phased subdivision approval provisions, including distinctions between local and collector streets;
2. Regulate limited-access street systems (cul-de-sacs, temporary turnarounds, looped streets);
3. Revise lot frontage requirements in the Medium Density Residential (R3) and High Density Residential (R4) zones;
4. Establish connectivity incentives linked to density bonusing;
5. Introduce collector street provisions requiring Town Engineer review where thresholds are exceeded;
6. Address legacy streets that exceed current standards; and
7. Require the reservation of corridors for future street connections, administered jointly by the Development Officer and Traffic Authority.
8. Require a phasing agreement at tentative subdivision for a phased development.

Any interested persons who wish to speak on the matter are welcome to attend and make their opinions known to Council. Visual presentations, such as PowerPoint, and written submissions must be provided to staff before 12pm on the business day immediately preceding the Hearing.
