Join us in Kentville as we warm up winter with tons of fun! 

Celebrate the hot and cold of it all, with the Fire and Ice Winter Festival! In Kentville, we take every opportunity to celebrate, and February is no exception.  It's the season of ice and snow, and also the season of love!  Kentville has plenty of events and activities lined up to help you shake off the chill, or dive head first right into it, whatever makes you happy!

Is a little shopping followed by dinner and a show just your speed?  Perhaps you're looking for some heart-pounding snow driven outdoor adventure?  You could learn something new while staying toasty warm inside sipping tea, or take a walk through a bright snowy forest trail on a beautiful crisp day, totally alone and away from everything.  We are here to make all of your winter-loving fantasies a reality, whatever they are!

Kentville merchants are rolling out the red carpet and have created some special offerings just for Fire and Ice.  Get downtown and visit Kentville businesses for some hot deals and cool offers!

Oakdene Park Community Garden Group Presents: "Earth & Sky" at the Fire and Ice Festival
Saturday, February 15th, 2025 | 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Oakdene Park, Kentville

Join us for a day of creativity and connection at the "Earth & Sky" crafting event, part of Kentville's Fire and Ice Festival! Explore five interactive crafting tables, each inspired by nature, culture, and community:

  • Painted Rocks: Design colorful keepsakes with Margaret.
  • Plant a Seed: Pot pumpkin, sunflower, or bean seeds with Fran.
  • Mi’kmaq Crafts: Create fragrant sachets and candles with Blessing.
  • African Nova Scotian Heritage: Learn through crafts and storytelling with Tammy or Roxy.
  • Mug Decorating & Warm Drinks: Enjoy crafts and refreshments with Wanda and Annie.

Community Bike Ride

11:00am – 12:30pm – meet at the Kentville Rec Hub

Hosted by Valley Devo – join us for an exhilarating outdoor adventure on the Harvest Moon Trail.  We recommend dressing for the weather- dress warmly, but in layers!

Snowshoe Stomp (or Winter Hike) – weather will decide!

A winter guided snowshoe experience for all ages.  Pace will be matched to the slowest participants so no one will be left behind.

Dog Mushing

12:00-2:00pm- KCA Cafeteria

FREE

This "Try It" dog sledding session offers a hands-on introduction to the exciting sport of dog sledding. In this session, participants will be paired with an experienced guide and a team of trained sled dogs. The session typically begins with a brief orientation to explain the basics of the sport, including how to control the sled, how to communicate with the dogs, and safety protocols.

Once you're familiar with the equipment and the dogs, you will have the opportunity to experience the thrill of mushing (driving the sled) or riding along as a passenger on a sled.
