UPDATE - Public Hearing February 2026 - Planning & Development

PUBLIC NOTICE – PROCESS UPDATE
Concurrent Construction Amendments

The Town of Kentville advises that the Public Hearing previously scheduled regarding proposed amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy, Land Use By-law, and Subdivision By-law respecting concurrent construction has been postponed.

Following legal review, revisions to the structure of the amendments are required. Due to the scope of these changes, the matter will return to a Public Participation Meeting prior to rescheduling a Public Hearing. Details of the Public Participation Meeting will be advertised once confirmed.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Land Use Bylaw Amendments

TAKE NOTICE that Kentville Town Council will be holding a PUBLIC HEARING on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 4pm in Council Chambers of Town Hall, 354 Main Street, Kentville, NS. Council intends to consider at this meeting the following proposal:

Planning Application: The Town of Kentville is considering a proposed amendment to its Municipal Planning Strategy, Land Use By-law, and Subdivision By-law that would allow, under specific conditions, the issuance of development permits prior to final subdivision approval. The intent of this amendment is to enable housing construction to proceed concurrently with infrastructure completion, while maintaining municipal oversight and safety standards.

Any interested persons who wish to speak on the matter are welcome to attend and make their opinions known to Council. Visual presentations, such as PowerPoint, and written submissions must be provided to staff before 12pm on the business day immediately preceding the Hearing.
