Land Use Planning is the traditional method of achieving the vision of the future for a community. It’s the process of managing land uses, promoting healthy growth and community development, and protecting the living, production, and recreational environments of a community. It expresses the community’s desires regarding where different types of expected growth will go, and in what densities, forms, and quantities.

Through the policies of the Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and regulations of the Land Use By-law (LUB) and Subdivision By-law, appropriate lands are set aside or “zoned" for certain uses. Planning aims to make efficient use of the town’s built infrastructure (streets, water and sewer lines) in order to avoid wasting limited resources.

On April 21, 2021, Council will meet to learn about the Municipal Planning Strategy and discuss draft amendments to this document.

Happening on Saturday April 24th 2021 is the Great Big K-Town Clean up!  Each year over the winter litter collects along roadways, trails, in parks, and well......everywhere.  That's really disappointing, we know.  But it's going to be OK! Because Kentville is jam packed with caring people who like to get outside and lend a hand.  We think that's awesome.  Want to join in the fight against litter?  Meet up with town staff, KBC board members, and fellow community volunteers all working together!  All supplies will be provided including bags and gloves. Give whatever time you have, short or long.  Any and all help is welcomed and appreciated. We will have a great time making new connections while we work, and enjoy a BBQ provided by the Kentville Lions Club at the end. We are fun people, and we hope you will join us!

DETAILS:
Saturday April 24th, 2021
10:00 AM - 1:00PM
Three Meet-up Locations:
  • Centre Square (389 Main Street)
  • Oakdene Park (46 Campbell Road)
  • Memorial Park Tennis Courts (10 Veterans Lane)

All locations have available parking, and a staff person will be there to greet you, take info for contact tracing, and provide supplies and instruction.  Please wear masks for the check-in process with staff, they can be removed once you've checked in.  Every participant will be entered into a draw for great prizes!  Check back for the list of prizes as we continue to put that together.

Planning to attend?  Visit our event page on Facebook and let us know you are coming.  This is not a requirement, but it will help us plan for supplies etc.

Cant come on the 24th but still want to help?  No prob!  We have litter kits available through the planning office and we'd be happy to drop one to your doorstep.  Call Lindsay: 902-679-2549 or email lyoung@kentville.ca

LIONS CLUB BBQ:
Saturday April 24th, 2021

We are thankful for the great volunteers and organizations we have access to here in Kentville.  As a token of our thanks, clean-up participants will be treated to complimentary refreshments provided by our partners at the Kentville Lions Club!  Not coming to clean, but love a good hotdog?  Visit the Lions in Centre Square between 11:00am-2:00pm and buy one to support Lions programs in our area.  Win win!
