Challenger Baseball is an adaptive baseball program, run in partnership with the Jays Care Foundation and Baseball Canada, where individuals living with physical and/or cognitive disabilities can participate in baseball programming. The program teaches athletes the core life skills inherent to baseball, including teamwork, communication, determination, resiliency, inclusion, support and courage. Challenger Baseball ensures participants of all abilities have the opportunity to play in a fun and safe environment where they learn to become more independent, build confidence, and create lasting friendships with their peers.

We will be running stations to learn/practice the skills and work up to a game at the end of each session.

Challenger Baseball will run every Tuesday from 10-11am in Memorial Park Field 4, with the exception of Tuesday July 16th due to Canada Cup Championships.

This is a FREE program, with registration required, please email SummerOutreach@Kentville.ca

Every Wednesday from July 10th until August 21st the Specialty Outreach team and Brilliant labs will be hosting a free STEAM space pop-up outside of the Kentville Memorial Pool from 12pm-3pm. Together we will be engaging in fun activities and crafts that are perfect for drop-in's between swims or when taking a break from the playground or splash pad!

Brilliant Labs is an Atlantic-Canadian organization that uses a hands-on, experiential learning platform providing youth with opportunities to develop coding and digital skills and works with young people, educators, and community leaders to develop creativity, innovation, digital skills, and a socially responsible entrepreneurial mindset and we are excited to partner with them again this year.

Our education 101 sessions are going to be lead by one of our outreach staff, Grayson Titcomb. Grayson is originally from British Columbia, but has been residing in the Annapolis valley for the last 7 years. Through his experience living locally as a transgender man, and working with a variety of different marginalized groups, he has gained a wealth of knowledge on inclusion and belonging principles within community. He will be spending 3 evenings presenting information on Belonging and Inclusion in a self paced and digestible format.
